Architecture: First person to talk about architecture was Vitrivius (2100 years ago) Around for 2000 years. Responsible for architecture for being "structurally sound".

Design is like liberal arts: Entrepreneurship, Management and production, Communication, Creativity and Problem Solving, Knowledge Gathering ...all inclusive.

Characteristics of the Fractal behavior: Research/Inspiration: Traditional approach, Market Analysis, What might be, design/fractal approach. "they need to find what people want to carry around...what they want to show people". Book called "the perfect thing" about design process at apple. Want to make something that people would love.

Steve Jobs (ceo of apple): calls them pony sessions...everyone wants something new...want is affordable? I want a music player, something that is realistic.
Problem Solving: Traditional approach: Definite
design/fractal approach: iterative

Validation:
Traditional approach: Focus groups/surveys

Communicate Strategy Through:
Traditional Approach: Spreadsheets
Design/fractal approach: Visual and Multimedia Scenarios (they imply a story)

T-shaped skills: Majoring in computer science (specialty in javascript)
Graphic Design: Know another language, space travel (multi-facid)

Be your own trend forecaster:
-Read Wide (WSJ, NYT, Financial Times, Economist, etc.)
-Write Narrow (tweet, blog, etc.)
-Attend conferences of other disciplines (you'll be exotic; go early/stay late)

Build Your Network:
-Meet 10 new people every week to
-find partners/clients
-recruit others to be your agents
-connect your nodes via salons, meals
-create a braintrust ( own board of directors)

Be Prepared:
-Cards
-Smartphone, etc. with your work on it
-Elevator pitch (your short story)
-Cafe pitch (longer version)
-Reciprocal altruism

Foster Leadership Skills:
-Learn to work with "people you don't like"
